{"id":2661,"date":"2017-01-24T13:48:47","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T12:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ripess.eu\/?p=2661\/"},"modified":"2021-03-23T10:32:28","modified_gmt":"2021-03-23T09:32:28","slug":"italy-international-deep-dive-of-mapping-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.eu.ripess.rio20.net\/en\/italy-international-deep-dive-of-mapping-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Italy: International Deep Dive of Mapping Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\">March 10-15 2017 in Florence, Italy<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/commonsstrategies.org\/deep-dive-workshops\/\">Deep Dive<\/a> will enable p\u00a0to make participants<b> in-depth analysis <\/b><b>and tackle<\/b><b> the existing challenges to <\/b><b>developing <\/b><b>a common, distributed, semantic mapping process<\/b> among different mapping initiatives. Initiatives who share a commitment to making visible diverse human economies and challenge dominant ways of thinking about society and economy.<\/p>\n<p>Mapping practitioners from initiatives such as Transformap, GreenMaps, ESSGlobal (Ripess)\u00a0and others identified this need at an informal meeting during the <b>World Social Forum (WSF) 2016<\/b> in Montreal. The goal is to exchange and articulate a common framework for shared data beyond our own maps and processes. This framework will be tested by applying it in a concrete region with assistance from local activists &#8211; namely the region around Florence. This will show the potential for how mapping alternatives can expand from the local to the global level.<\/p>\n<p>Mapping supports the strategic development of Commons, SSE (Social Solidarity Economy) initiatives and other alternatives. Community mapping is becoming part of engaged planning processes, school programs and leadership development projects.<\/p>\n<p>Mapping generates action as it guides the way we explore, experience and interpret the world. Mapping is universally understood and contributes in a very palpable way to developing a new &#8220;world-view&#8221;.
