{"id":22371,"date":"2021-02-10T16:03:20","date_gmt":"2021-02-10T15:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ripess.eu\/?p=22371"},"modified":"2021-03-22T15:28:51","modified_gmt":"2021-03-22T14:28:51","slug":"corona-and-the-commons-an-article-from-the-p2p-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.eu.ripess.rio20.net\/en\/corona-and-the-commons-an-article-from-the-p2p-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Corona and the Commons: an article from the P2P Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Michel Bauwens, Peer-to-Peer Foundation, April 2020<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Before the Corona outbreak (..), I had been reviewing the literature on historical rhythms and cycles to set the stage for the current \u2018chaotic transition\u2019 and \u2018what comes next\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">In short, I have come to two important conclusions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>society moves from relative stable stages, through chaotic transitions, which are real mutations both in human consciousness and in socio-economic structures<\/li>\n<li>this change is non-linear and moves through internal or external shocks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Clearly, Corona is such a shock, partly exo-genous, i.e. a unpredictable outside factor, but also partly endo-genous (internal factor), since our devastating ecological practices are an important part of pandemic generation. It\u2019s a double whammy which both endangers human life and creates a double shock to the economic system (both demand and supply driven, this is quite unprecedented, as economic crisis usually alternate between one and the other).\u00a0<strong>Corona is not going to be sufficient for a full transition, but it will be a Great Accelerator, which has already changed so much in such a short time<\/strong>. I am not predicting that the results will be uniformly positive (accelerating the green\/p2p\/commons transition), or negative (Naomi Klein\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tsd.naomiklein.org\/shock-doctrine\/\">shock doctrine<\/a>).
